Playhouse | The Plan

All this time at home and working on our backyard has lit our fire to tackle the countless “one day” projects around here. We fenced off the back half of our yard (reclaiming it from the deer, somewhat sadly - they were so nice to watch) and now have all this useable lawn. The first thing Jakob did with all his free time was put together a playground. He had picked up the swings and slide over the years with every intention to do this (though his schedule was preventing him). It really only took him a week to accomplish that (along with the tree fort).

My childhood dream (and I mean that literally - I had a recurring dream until I was around 10) was for a realistic two level playhouse. “Me sized”. It’s been something I always dreamt of giving to my own kids. I’m fortunate that I have a handy husband with a builder dad of his own. This weekend we chose the site and started preparing materials. I selected a the “Green House” plans from Paul’s Playhouses. Jakob was really pleasantly surprised by how simple and clear the instructions are. So I am hoping it is smooth sailing!

I’ll get my hands dirty with some painting, but otherwise I’m just the Director and Designer. Today I found myself with an hour alone so I did some initial design plans. I can flip flop a bit, especially when I’m straying out of my comfort zone and doing something out of my usual style, so this is all subject to change!

Which is your favourite initial design scheme?
