January Beauty Favourites

I’m no expert, but I do appreciate luxurious beauty products. I’ve found in the past year I have really neglected my beauty routine. Most days I don’t wear makeup, but most days I don’t wash my face or moisturize. So, like many of us this time of year, I intend to spend a few extra minutes a day focusing on myself and my wellness routine. This will include taking care of my skin. I’m approaching my mid 30’s now, and I’ve started collecting fine lines. While I celebrate these as as sign of a life well lived, I do want to slow my aging process, just ever so much! It also goes part in parcel with my other goal: drink more water. Taking care of my body outside in and inside out.

Here are a few products that I’ve been making sure to use more often (than not!).

I have been an Aesop customer for about… 8 years. I am at heart a brand loyalist (it’s a Capricorn trait!) and once I find something I like and connect with you have me for life. I use the toner, hand soap in all my bathrooms, travel sanitizer, mouth wash, and more. This is the facial cleanser I have been using for years. I like the gentle exfoliation and the earthy smell.

This is one of the first serums I have used and committed to. I chose the Resurfacing Serum and use it every morning to even out my skin and give it a little glow. The ingredients are 100% natural which is very important to me.  It transforms dullness with a combination of 7 AHAs and BHAs that slough off dead skin cells to give you a healthy-looking glow. Antioxidants help fight the effects of free radicals that can diminish your glow and make you look older than you are. First time buyers can receive a discount when signing up for the newsletter (I think about $25cad).

This is Gisou oil by the hair queen/influencer Negin Mirsalehi smells incredible (I’m a big honey fan!). I use this as a prestyler, running it from the midway point to my ends, while my hair is still damp. If I use it when my hair is dry I find it makes my hair too stringy (I have very fine hair).  Use daily as a pre-styler and/or finisher, add a few drops to your hair mask, or leave in as an overnight treatment. Honey is the key ingredient and a natural blend of minerals, vitamins, amino acids and antioxidants. It is also known as nature’s humectant, due to its moisture-retaining properties. Resulting in deeply conditioned, stronger hair.

If the notes include Sandalwood, I’m sold. This is my scent of the season. I’ve always used Le Labo’s Santal 33 as my home fragrance, and this has the same effect with a much lower price tag. Thanks to some thoughtful friends on my birthday, I now have the candle as well! Louis Marie Aubert Du Petit Thouars was a pioneer in French botanical history who discovered over thousand different plant species in a span of ten years. Two hundred years later Marie Du Petit Thouars began making candles and experimenting with scents in her mother’s greenhouse.  Check out Maison Louie Marie’s whole line of home and personal fragrances.

I’ve been wanting to try La Mer for years but the price tag always had me hesitant. During a Sephora sale I decided to give this entry level product a go. I wanted to not like this (expensive habit!)… but it’s been a welcome addition to my routine. This is the treatment I use at night before bed. Extremely hydrating! Use this before a cream. A fast-absorbing treatment, that delivers hydration to visibly soften, nurture, and improve the appearance of skin’s texture.

Well, hopefully this inspires and makes you consider what products you want to add to your list and to start giving your skin and hair the love it deserves. Happy New Year!
