Thanksgiving Outdoor Supper

I hosted this dinner party to welcome my lovely friend visiting from London (UK). I wanted to show her some Canadian hospitality, comfort food and plaid.

Adding a few easy elements is a sure way to give your next outdoor dinner party an Autumnal vibe!

Hurricane Candles

I found these little glass Hurricanes and the corresponding white wax candles at a dollar store. It was a really cheap way to add a beautiful lit ambiance as the sun disappeared over the tree tops.

Plaid Throws

I’m not sure where you live, but we really needed these blankets as the night went on. Even with my outdoor fireplace and everyone in their warm jackets, the air was biting. Don’t have all the throws? Ask your guests to bring a lap blanket to drape on the back of their chair until they’re ready for it!

Apple Table Runner

This is an easy way to give a warm, fall-centric red accent to your table. I couldn’t resist including a couple of professionally designed low arrangements from my favourite florist.

Neutral Pumpkins

I had these anyway for the season so they were a natural fit. Artfully stacking them on a table (or a fireplace in my case) is an easy way to dress up your event. Depending of course what your outdoor space looks like and what it offers for surfaces to decorate.

Gold Cutlery

I own two sets of cutlery (one all silver, one white/silver), so when I want to add a different vibe I look to my favourite local party rental place. In this case, I wanted hints of gold and red. I also rented the plates, burlap napkins and wine glasses. This makes for a much less stressful clean up day with a hangover (food baby or otherwise).

Free People Scarf (it was a Canadian theme, hence my denim tuxedo!)
